  WASABI  
            
Sushi was the first fast food for Japanese since Edo period (17th century) because once the fisherman got fresh fish, it is very easy to make sushi using only knife and rice.  Since Edo period there are many sushi stands selling sushi and at that time they didn’t have any refrigerator, so they’re using wasabi with sushi to prevent bacteria and keep its freshness.  Wasabi was widely used in Japan since that time, not only for sushi, but also for sashimi & other Japanese foods.

             
Nowadays sushi bar and Japanese restaurants are on the growing trend in Thailand like in many countries around the world, it is not only for high end customers anymore, but also becoming popular for all young generation.  It’s beyond fashion, but it is the food trend around the world. Due to this popularity, consumers would like to know more about Japanese food culture and Japanese food ingredients.  One of the most well known ingredient or condition that represent image of Japanese cuisine is “WASABI


Due to the growing trend of Japanese cuisine worldwide, WASABI is one of the most popular condiment or spice using for different cuisines.   The unique characteristic is the “Sinus Clearing Effect” which is not similar to chili or pepper, but can enhancing and spicing up the flavor of food.

However most consumers still don’t understand clearly of what wasabi is, in some countries, wasabi is called “Japanese Mustard” or “Japanese Horseradish” or “Green Horseradish”, etc.  Actually WASABI has more interesting information and health giving benefits to talk about. 

“Wasabi” is also referred as “King of Herbs” due to its healthful qualities including anti-bacterial properties, killing some forms of E-coli and Staphylococcus, antioxidant, etc.
